At Goose Island CrossFit, we are working to build something that will last. CrossFit is known for producing quick and visible results, but our programming is also designed with longevity in mind. Fitness is essential to fully enjoying and experiencing life, and we want to support you and give you opportunities to pursue excellence and thriving for the rest of your life.
We want to partner with you to build a strong city within our great city. Our coaches care about you as people. We are working every day to construct an environment that is designed to build each member into the best version of themselves. We long to see growth and renewal in you as an individual and in the community of Lincoln Park.
We believe in programming workouts that mimic everyday life both physically and mentally. In our workouts we are building our strength and endurance and mobility in order to be physically fit for life, but we are also exercising our concentration and perseverance and discipline in order to be mentally equipped for life.

What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a program focused on Functional Movements, High Intensity, and Constance Variance. The goal is to increase General Physical Preparedness (GPP) for any endeavor you choose. We utilize Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Gymnastics, Body Weight Movements, Running, Rowing, Biking and Odd Objects to achieve this goal.
Will lifting weights make me bulky?
Our program is designed to build you into the best version of yourself. Following our program will make you burn fat and increase lean muscle mass and increase your GPP. This combination results in a lean and toned body. Think gymnast or dancer rather than a body builder.
Isn't it just for elite athletes? Why should I do high intensity workouts if my goals are not intense?
CrossFit is for everyone! It is infinitely scalable and you should be able to complete the same workout as a child and someone in their 70's. The weights and movements may look different. The goal of Goose Island CrossFit is to make the Chicago a healthier place one person at a time. We want you to be healthy and happy and the focus will be on having fun along the way.
The CrossFit Games are a different animal. Just like any other sport you have to dedicate yourself and make enormous sacrifices along the way to compete at that level. We would be thrilled and proud if you never competed in sports but you slept better, decrease your stress and have more energy at work everyday.
What will my first day be like?
We will educate you on CrossFit and our philosophy. Then we will lead you through a warm up and introduce you to some key movements. Finally, we will give you an awesome workout.
Why is it so much more expensive than my current gym membership?
When you become a member of Goose Island CrossFit, you are not paying for access to equipment or facilities. You are essentially paying for personal training in a warm community atmosphere. When compared to the cost of personal training, it really is quite a bargain.
Will I be safe?
You will be very safe. Everyone is guided through every class by a trainer. The trainers will show you the movement and reinforce good movement patterns. If an athlete is not able to complete a particular movement you will be given a different movement. For Instance, if you cannot complete a Pull-Up then we will have you do Ring Rows. The Ring Row will increase your pulling strength and will give you a conditioning piece you can use in workouts. The goal of the Ring Row is to eventually give you a Pull Up.
What if I have an injury?
We will work with all athletes to ensure they have a good workout and a safe experience. If you have a shoulder injury and cannot put your arm above your head we will still be able to give you a workout. If you have a leg injury and cannot run we have an Air Bike that can be powered by your arms alone or a Ski Erg that can allow you to get conditioning in outside of the most popular traditional methods.
Where are you guys?
We are located at 1750 N Kingsbury Street in Lincoln Park in the heart of Chicago. We are closely located to the Armitage Brown Line stop and the Clybourn Red Line stop. It is easy to get to us from Interstate 90/94 and Lake Shore Drive. Wicker Park, Bucktown, Lakeview, West Loop, Noble Square Ukrainian Village, River North, the Loop and the South Loop are a short drive away.
Do you have parking?
Yes, we have 20 parking spots on site with overflow for the mornings across the street and just south of us behind Binny's Beverage Depot. You can park on the street after 4pm during the week and any time on Saturday and Sunday.

Do you have a DROP IN POLICY?
Drop ins are available as a courtesy for experienced CrossFit athletes only. In order to drop in for a class, please click this link to submit payment, fill out a waiver and then select a class to attend.
