I was introduced to CrossFit in 2009 while completing my Master's degree at the University of Iowa. Although I played volleyball and ran track and field in high school, the intensity of CrossFit was a new and intriguing training regimen that I was immediately drawn to.
A few years after I started CrossFit, I began to focus almost solely on Olympic Weightlifting. With hard work and determination, I was able to qualify for the USA Weightlifting National Championships in 2014. This experience not only inspired me as an athlete and competitor, it solidified my desire to teach others about the sport of Weightlifting and be a helpful resource for those learning about and competing in Weightlifting.
Goose Island CrossFit has become a perfect fit for me because of the welcoming and encouraging community, as well as its commitment to helping people constantly better themselves and achieve their goals. I believe training at a place like Goose Island CrossFit can make a positive impact in your life regardless of your current athletic ability. I am always encouraging women to set fitness and strength goals without regard to conventional standards, and believe that breaking down this barrier is essential in order to reach your full potential as a female athlete.
